During evening times, most of us love to have hot coffee or tea combined with some tasty and crispy snacks.
From elder to younger, everyone likes snacks. That too, during the rainy season, everyone likes to have hot and crispy homemade snacks.
Most of the snacks that we bought from shops are not healthy. We don't know the quality of the oil they use to prepare those snacks. We have no idea how many times they reuse that oil for preparing those snacks.
Outside foods or the foods that we buy from stores may have preservatives, which is not good for our health.
The processed snacks or packed snacks that we buy from stores are high in sugars, unhealthy fats, and preservatives. It can lead to several diseases and health risks.
Eating unhealthy snacks may cause many health issues. Frequently eating outside snacks may increase the cholesterol levels in our body.
Eating them may cause digestive problems and even high blood pressure. Additionally, store-bought snacks can increase calorie intake and cause weight gain.
Therefore, it is better to completely avoid snacks from stores or any other outside shops.
We can avoid all the problems mentioned above by preparing delicious snacks at home.
Sweet Puffs and Minced Mutton Puffs

Children love sweet treats, while adults often prefer spicy snacks. That's why today we are going to make two types of puffs: sweet puffs and spicy minced Mutton puffs.
All the ingredients for making these puffs are very simple. You can easily prepare these puff varieties using items available at home.
This way, whenever you feel like having a crispy snack, you can make it right away. There's no need to go to the shops to buy snacks, which are not good for your health anyway.
Let’s see how to make healthy, tasty, crispy sweet puffs and spicy minced mutton puffs. Come on, let’s cook!
Required Ingredients
1. For preparing the outer layer of the puffs
Wheat flour - 500 grams
Semolina (Rava) - 50 grams
Salt - as needed
2. For preparing the sweet stuffing
Grated coconut - 200 grams
Roasted chickpeas (fried gram)- 100 grams
Cardamom powder - 1 teaspoon
Sugar - 200 grams
3. For preparing the minced mutton stuffing
Minced mutton - 250 grams
Large onions - 3 pieces
Ginger-garlic paste - 1 teaspoon
Chilli powder - 1 teaspoon
Turmeric powder - ¼ teaspoon
Curry masala powder - 1 teaspoon
Cooking oil - 4 teaspoons
Curry leaves - 1 bunch
Coriander leaves - 1 handful
Salt - as needed
Procedure for making Sweet puffs
1. To prepare the dough for puffs
Mix wheat flour with semolina (rava) and the required amount of salt. Knead the mixture well until it reaches a firm consistency suitable for making pooris. We add semolina (rava) to make the puffs crispy.
2. Procedure for making Sweet Puffs
- First, grind roasted chickpeas (fried gram) in a mixer until powdered.
- In a bowl, combine grated coconut, chickpea powder, cardamom powder, and sugar.
- Now the Stuffing for Sweet puffs is ready.
- Next, take the prepared dough and make the dough into small balls. Roll the small balls in round shapes, like pooris.
- Now, for making sweet puffs, place the above prepared sweet stuffing in the centre of the rolled dough, fold it like a dumpling, and seal the edges. Keep it aside.
- Prepare all the dough into dumplings by following the same method we mentioned above.
- Next, place a frying deep kadai on the stove and pour in half a litre of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the prepared sweet stuffed dumplings and fry until done.
Now our crispy Sweet Puffs are ready to serve.
Procedure for making Mutton Puffs
- First, place the minced mutton pieces in a pressure cooker, add the required amount of salt, and a little water.
- Close the cooker and cook the mutton until you hear 5 whistles, then remove it.
- Next, heat a pan on the stove and add cooking oil once it's hot. When the oil is hot, add finely chopped large onions and sauté well.
- Then, add ginger-garlic paste and continue to sauté until the raw smell disappears.
- Add finely chopped curry leaves, chilli powder, turmeric powder, and curry masala powder to the mixture.
- Stir well and add the cooked minced meat and the required amount of salt. Sauté everything until it combines nicely.
- Cook until all the water evaporates and the mixture becomes dry. Finally, add finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Now, the minced mutton stuffing is ready.
- Next, take the prepared dough and make the dough into small balls. Roll the small balls in round shapes, like pooris.
- Now, for making Mutton Puffs, place the above-prepared mutton stuffing in the centre of the rolled dough, fold it like a dumpling, and seal the edges. Keep it aside.
- Prepare all the dough suffed with mutton mixture into dumplings by following the same method we mentioned above.
- Next, place a frying deep kadai on the stove and pour in half a litre of cooking oil. Once the oil is hot, add the prepared mutton stuffed dumpling and fry until done.
Now our crispy Mutton Puffs are ready to serve.
Some Notes about Sweet Puffs and Mutton Puffs
You can use minced Chicken instead of minced Mutton.
Unlike mutton, minced chicken doesn't need to be cooked in a pressure cooker. Just sauté it in a pan, and it will cook quickly.
