Required Ingredients
1. For making Karuppu Kavuni Idiyaappam dough
Karuppu Kavuni rice flour - 500 grams
Salt - 4 pinches
Hot water - as needed
2. For Karuppu Kavuni Sweet Idiyaappam
Grated coconut - 200 grams (1 cup)
Roasted gram (fried Bengal gram) - 50 grams
Sugar - 200 grams
Ghee - 5 tablespoons
3. For Karuppu Kavuni Savoury Idiyaappam
Large onions - 2 pieces
Mustard seeds - 1 teaspoon
Urad dal - 1 teaspoons
Chana dal - 2 teaspoons
Cashew nuts - 10 pieces
Green chillies - 2 pieces
Curry leaves - 2 sprigs
Coriander leaves - 1 handful
Grated coconut - 100 grams
Cooking oil - 3 teaspoons
Ghee - 2 teaspoons
Salt - as needed
To prepare Karuppu Kavuni Idiyaappam Dough
- First, take Karuppu Kavuni rice flour in a wide vessel. Then, add just a pinch of salt to it. It is important not to add too much salt; a small amount is sufficient for flavour.
- Next, slowly add the boiling water to the flour and knead it well until the dough reaches the correct consistency.
- After kneading, place the dough into the idiyaappam maker and press it out onto an idli plate or a steaming tray, shaping it into idiyaappam strands.
- First, turn on the stove and pour a little water into the idli steamer. Once it heats up, place the prepared dough inside the steamer and cook for 10 minutes. This will make the Karuppu Kavuni Idiyaappam ready.

- First, take a wide dish and break the idiyaappam into small pieces. Then, grind the roasted gram in a mixer until it turns into a fine powder.
- Mix the grated coconut, the fried gram powder, ghee, and sugar all together with the broken idiyaappam. Let all the ingredients mix thoroughly.
