Required Ingredients for preparing Pineapple Rasam
Pineapple - 1 piece
Ghee - 1 teaspoon
Cumin seeds - 15 grams
Toor Dhal - 40 grams
Green chillies - 2 pieces
Black pepper - 15 grams
Mustard seeds - ½ teaspoon
Fenugreek seeds - ½ teaspoon
Dried red chillies - 3 pieces
Coriander - 1 tablespoon
Tomatoes - 2 pieces
Garlic - 7 cloves
Ginger - 1 inch piece
Curry leaves - 2 handfuls
Turmeric powder - ½ teaspoon
Asafoetida powder - ¼ teaspoon
Fresh coriander leaves - 1 handful
Lemon - ½ piece
Salt - As needed
Procedure for preparing Pineapple Rasam
- First, take a pineapple and cut it into two halves.
- Cut the one half of the separated pineapple into small pieces and place them in a bowl.
- Take another half of the pineapple, cut it into small pieces, and put it in a blender. Add a little water and blend it well.
- Take a pan and place it on the stove to heat. Then, add half a teaspoon of ghee and let it heat up.
- Melt the ghee and then add cumin, black pepper, thoor dhal, three dried red chillies, and one tablespoon of coriander. Sauté everything well.
- After frying everything in ghee, let it cool down. Then, put it in a mixer and grind it into a fine powder.
- This is a healthy and flavourful rasam powder that we can prepare at home.
- Then, take a clay pot or kadai and heat it on the stove. Once the kadai is hot, add two chopped tomatoes to it.
- Next, add the chopped pineapple pieces. Then, mix in the minced garlic, green chillies, curry leaves, chopped ginger, turmeric powder, asafoetida powder, and coriander leaves.
Few more steps for preparing Pineapple Rasam
- Then, you need to add thoor dal boiled water to it. After that, mix in the blended pineapple juice and stir well.
- After adding water as needed, mix in two tablespoons of the roasted and ground rasam powder. Also, check and add the required amount of salt.
- You need to heat the rasam on medium heat until it starts to boil nicely. While the rasam is boiling and after the pineapple is well cooked, squeeze half a lemon and pour its juice in.
- Finally, sprinkle a handful of coriander leaves into the pineapple juice and turn off the stove.
- Take a small pan and heat it. Add half a teaspoon of ghee. Then, mix in mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, some chopped ginger and garlic, crushed pepper and cumin powder.
- Sauté everything well and then combine it with pineapple rasam.
